The 2023-2024 season for Anglers Inn Mexico is winding down. June was phenomenal leading up to the lodges closing at the end of July. Then the monsoons will arrive in full force filling the lake. In the meantime, the crew busily works on the boats and lodges to make sure everything is in top working order after ten months of non-stop hosting.

There is still a small handful of Amazon peacock bass fishing vacancies, so act quickly to join us for our 2025 season. Our guests at our Anglers Inn Floating Suites in Florida relaxed to sunsets on the deck after some great fishing action.

Call Anna at 1-800-GOTA-FISH to lock in your reservation for these openings and more.

Don’t forget, you can arrange through us to have your trophy catch mounted by the world-famous Gray Taxidermy. To order, simply have the tip-to-tip length and weight measurements of your catch. A picture of your fish would be handy. These lifelike fiberglass replicas can be made from previous catches as well. Call Tonya or Ron at 405-408-0407 for more on making your order.

Crystal River with Suite Life on the Water

Summer activities at Crystal River are in full swing. Fishing, scalloping, airboat rides, manatee viewing, kayaking and sunsets are just part of the action. By booking your lodging on one of our Anglers Inn Floating Suites you are guaranteed a front-row seat in the heart of Kings Bay. Why stay on land in a boring hotel?

From Floating Suites guest Angela Easley

Thank you Billy for being such a wonderful host during our stay. We enjoyed our time with you and staying on your beautiful houseboat. We are forever grateful for your order of manatees, dolphins and tarpon to swim by. You helped our family create fantastic memories of laughter and fun with plenty of kayaking. Can’t wait to come back next year.

So grateful for your staff and for recommending Misty who was so friendly and patient with us and our kids, teaching us how to fish. A great bonus to our staycation!

From Floating Suites guests Stan and Shary Thomas

Thank you, Billy, Gail and Dylan for your superb hospitality. The houseboat is killer awesome! We look forward to seeing you next time. A most relaxing time was had by all.

Upcoming Seasons in Crystal River

Scalloping in the Kings Bay area around Crystal River opened July 1 with great fanfare.  Gag Grouper season opens September 1. Make your reservations for these popular activities that produce scrumptious dining of fresh scallops and outstanding fish filets. The winter manatees migrate back to Kings Bay to join our year-round residents starting in early November. Call 1-800-GOTA-FISH to reserve the Anglers Inn Floating Suites.

Mexico

The suspense is killing us. What were the best baits for Mexico in June? Drumroll, please. The best baits at both lakes continue to be watermelon/red Senkos, black/blue 10-inch PowerWorms, shad swimbaits, citrus deep cranks, Choppos and chatterbaits. The lake level is at its lowest and the summer fishing is so consistent.

From our June Lake El Salto guests' reports

You know Joe. Joe Thomas, host of Stihl’s Reel in the Outdoors and Ultimate Match Fishing on the Outdoor Channel, has just completed creating another great show at Lake El Salto. A regular with Anglers Inn for years, Joe reports that the June fishing was outstanding. Check local listings this coming winter for the El Salto show air dates and times.

“Josh (Parck) and I just got back from another 4 days on El Salto,” reports Greg Glogow. “Trip # 7 in the last 3 years. The lake is getting healthier with each visit. 4 days of fishing, over 550 fish. Last 1/2 session, we caught over 120 on top water in one spot in less than 2 hours and had probably another 50 miss it or eat it and spit it. Absolutely unreal. As always we targeted larger fish and had multiple days with our 5 best being in the mid 40's. We weighed fish on our scales to 12.2 lbs and had an 11.2 as well. Multiple 9's and probably more 7's than I have ever seen. We had a few spots where we caught (10) or (11) 7-7.85lbers from within a 45-minute period. We targeted big fish by slow-rolling big 9" swimbaits on the bottom. We sacrificed over $500 in baits, but it was worth it because it produced. We were in deep water, 30ft plus and patience paid off for the big ones. There seems to be a whole new generation of fish from the overflow rain that happened at the end of 2021. Schools of thousands of 2-5lb bass are keyed into shad all over the lake and can be caught on just about anything, top water, chatterbaits etc... El Salto could be as healthy as ever. See you guys in January!”

Allisa and Jerry LeBlanc chose to be with Anglers Inn to celebrate their 26th anniversary.

Angela Standridge Graham claims the ladies can catch big bass at El Salto, just like the guys. Her picture proves her point with this massive largemouth landed by Angela in June.

John Lange and Jim Marineau are regulars at Lake El Salto with Anglers Inn. Their biggest catch, by Jim, was 9 pounds 11 ounces. Favored baits were the black/blue 10-inch Berkley PowerWorms and white swimbaits. “Martin showed us how to use the chatterbait properly,” reported John. ”Never really used it before. I caught my best of the trip at 9 pounds, 7 ounces on it. Wasn’t 3 minutes later, after I was feeling pretty good about myself, that Jim popped his Personal Best, on a chatter bait. A gold blade was imperative. I’m returning in November with my brother.”

Joshua Massoud made a return visit to Anglers Inn at Lake El Salto with fishing buddy Zach Polyak. Favorite bait was a green pumpkin Senko followed closely by black/blue 10-inch Berkley PowerWorms and chartreuse deep cranks. “A great trip as always,” said Joshua. “Zack reset his personal best three times in one afternoon topping out at 7.8 pounds. Our biggest fish weighed 8.14 pounds.”

The Stewart party, with the Danleys, takes a break from the fishing excitement and eating for group photos.

Bobby Costa and 14-year old son Clayton got into heavy El Salto action.

Shane and son Bobby Wallace share some invaluable father/son time.

Dan Parker enjoyed a late June trip to El Salto. “I caught 283 fish on my trip with the largest at 8 pounds,” said Dan. “I caught 45 fish that weighed over 5 pounds each. Best baits were shad-colored swimbaits and silver/blue back Traps.”

From our June Lake Picachos guests' reports

Danny and Lisa Mack have been visiting Anglers Inn at both lakes over 20 times and this time they visited Lake Picachos. They are in love with the service and that’s what makes them come back every time. They caught around 475 fish in 3 days on this trip. Their best baits were traps, crankbaits and lizards.

Michael Whitlow was at Lake Picachos with a few anglers and they caught 1773 bass!

Jay Winn enjoys catching anything that will bite, including a huge tilapia. Or a double on largemouth. Or a trophy bucketmouth. Even heading to the next hole.
