May officially introduces Anglers Inn guests to our summer bonanza of Mexico largemouth bass fishing. Our anglers reported outstanding catches to give our June and July guests even more to be excited about. We had some last-minute July cancellations so it’s not too late to take advantage of our last month of the 2023-2024 season.

There is also a small handful of Amazon peacock bass fishing vacancies, so this is a great opportunity to jump into our 2025 season. Our Anglers Inn Floating Suites were very popular this May, and the summer vacancies won’t last long.

Call Anna at 1-800-GOTA-FISH to lock in your reservation for these openings and more.

We have some great news that will be of benefit to our angling guests. Effective immediately, you can arrange through us to have your trophy catch mounted by the world-famous Gray Taxidermy. You will see the official announcement very soon but we’re too excited to not tell you now. To order, simply have the tip-to-tip length and weight measurements of your catch. A picture of your fish would be handy. These lifelike fiberglass replicas can be made from previous catches as well. Call Tonya or Ron at 405-408-0407 for more on making your order.

Mexico

At no surprise, the best baits remain watermelon Senkos, black/blue 10-inch PowerWorms, shad swimbaits, and citrus deep cranks. Choppos and chatterbaits are also making a great showing. The lake level has basically stabilized and the guides know which submerged point, bluff, shoreline, or flats are holding the best fish.

From our May Lake El Salto guests' report

Larry Landgren and Jess Smith visited Lake El Salto. “I had the opportunity and pleasure to fish with Martin. His knowledge of the structure, water conditions, and ever-changing environment, made for the best fishing trip of my short (70 year) life,” explained Jesse. “I have fished Hawaii, Florida, North and South Carolina, as well as tournament fished extensively in Arizona, but I felt like a rookie while fishing with Martin.

I feel like I gained another 10 years of experience/knowledge in just 3 days. I have already sent pictures and contact info for El Salto to several customers, clients and friends. Also, I’m working on plans for the next trip.”

Jim Grassi and Jeff Farmer returned to the lake for another great outing.

Jim, an inductee to the Freshwater Hall of Fame, offered, “Despite his vast saltwater experience, Jeff had never fished for largemouth bass. Together we landed nine over nine pounds with three over ten, plus an eleven-pounder and Jeff’s thirteen-pound trophy. I must declare that Lake El Salto is still the best bass lake in the world. Of course, the service and staff are second to none.”

Added Jim, “I encourage everyone who has experienced Lake El Salto to bring a “Newby” with you. Like Jeff, they will be hooked for a lifetime.”

James Fritz made a solo venture to Lake El Salto after seeing one of our magazine ads. His favorite bait was a Texas-rigged black and blue 10-inch PowerWorm, along with a Z-Man PBJ Giant TRD and a green pumpkin/purple flake 5-inch stick worm.

Matt and Tanja Sivley took the recommendation of a friend to visit Anglers Inn at Lake El Salto. They are very happy they did. “We caught personal bests for both my wife, 8.5 pounds, and me, 9 pounds,” said Matt. “I immediately booked a year out for a father and son trip. There are no adjectives to adequately describe this lodge or my experience. The service blew my mind. There is nothing like this place in the world.”

The Giudice party made their annual trek to Lake El Salto.

“The fishing was outstanding,” proclaimed group leader Gary Giudice. “We had so many personal bests and so many very big fish. The lake was prime for catching and the staff was great as usual.”

Danny Chmelko reports he had the best trip of his life with 11 fish over 8 pounds.

Michael and Andrea Whitlow bring another group to El Salto. They all had a great time and hated to return home.
