“We fished Lake El Salto for five days,” explained long-time Anglers Inn guest Jimmy Webster. “Our biggest fish weighed 10 pounds 4 ounces and we caught so many big fish. The top five fish in a day would exceed 43 pounds.”

Brian McTasney joined Webster and it was his third trip to El Salto. The fishing duo knew what to expect and their predictions for every aspect of the trip were met or exceeded.

Webster has been fishing with Billy Chapman and Anglers Inn for decades. His first trip to Lake El Salto was in 1992 and he has been a loyal customer throughout the years and a personal friend of Chapman. He’s been in business for 52 years brokering furniture products to national big box stores like Costco, Target and Walmart.

“Everything at the lake was in top shape and the staff never missed a chance to provide the best, most friendly service,” said Webster. Each boat was ready to go at daybreak each morning and we only stopped catching fish when we broke for lunch and siesta or to escape a temporary rainstorm.

“I’m set in my ways,” explained Webster. “I rely on a 10-inch black and blue Berkley PowerWorm or a jig for just about all my fish. The PowerWorm has been a staple to catch El Salto bass for as long as I can remember. McTasney likes any bait the fish will bite and the Lake El Salto bass bit at everything he threw at them.”

Like everyone that fishes at Lake El Salto with Anglers Inn, the return trip is planned each night after fish tales are shared. Webster already is booked for his next trip this October.
